This is a LotV variant of the roach/speedling all in I first learned from Fenner back in his HotS series of Zerg Fundamentals videos.
It is a one and a half base all in, with only 8 drones mining minerals in your natural. The early roach warren is a strong tell to an opponent's scouting, so try and prevent scouting with queens at the ramp if your overlords see lings coming over.
So far it has proven effective in either punishing greed or holding a lot of the ling/bane aggression popular in the early post-release meta
It is still vulnerable to 12/11 and 14/14 speedling rush builds if one is not careful.
As an all in, if the opponent holds without taking significant economic damage, you will have difficulty transitioning to a viable midgame.
Why is there no SALT encoding or Overwolf build?
14 | 0:19 | Overlord | |
17 | 1:00 | Hatchery | |

20 | 1:57 | Overlord | |
20 | 2:03 | Queen | |
22 | 2:10 | Roach Warren | |
23 | 2:22 | Queen | |
32 | 2:57 | Overlord | |
32 | 3:12 | Overlord | |
Metabolic Boost | Your first 100 gas goes into this, then the rest into roaches. Any minerals left after making roaches goes into lings. |
I normally rally the first roaches to a defensive position in case of an early ling/bane attack, in which case even a small roach+queen ball tends to trade well until my own ling flood cavalry arrives.
Another option is to hide the roaches/lings and deny early scouting with queens on your ramp until the rush is ready to leave your base
I keep the roaches and lings on separate control groups. Use the roaches as the main threat/damage output, and use the lings to either run interference against enemy lings or to run by into their mineral lines while they are forced to engage your roaches.
I'm in Gold, and have used this successfully against opponents up to and including diamond league zerg. I am not sure how well this build translates to Masters+ levels of mechanics though.

It's important to consider that early groups of zerglings are much stronger than your roaches. With this build, you need to be patient and push out not only with your roaches, but with a decent group of your own zerglings as well.
