Description

This is the build that sOs used against SortOf in the recent GSL match, three games in a row. The aim of the build is to harass the zerg with 7-8 adepts just before a big hydra count, while simultaneously taking your own third. This build has the potential to outright kill the zerg if they do not respect it with a roach warren or do not scout it.

Analysis

Important things to note:

• sOs chooses to go for phoenix 1st to clear overlords. This is up to your personal preference

• you can make a stalker after your 1st adept if the zerg is being over-zealous with their overlords, especially if you choose to go oracle -> phoenix. This will weaken your glaive push to 7 adepts instead of 8 though.

• Warpgate is delayed to allow for the fast stargate + 2 adepts

• The three adepts from gateways should time out to finish alongside warpgate if you time it right. After warpgate, transform gateways and warp in 3 adepts immediatey.

• Use adepts to clear 3rd base location, and then shade off to pressure zerg 3rd base. Behind this, make own 3rd with adepts at home to defend.

  • It is still possible to do damage even if they zerg goes for a roach warren. Roach's are notoriously slow at defending multiple bases, and it is possible to get great harass done through constant shading behind mineral lines.

• Behind the attack, warp in a comfortable number of sentries to defend a counter attack (5~8).

• If the adept attack has done some damage, you have two follow up options; probe up to 55, chrono immortals and +1 and then go in for the killing blow; or throw down the templar archives for archons while chronoing charge and upgrades and go into a macro game.

• If you lost your adepts for basically no damage at all, you are in a bad position. Your best bet is to drop a forge and chrono plus 1, charge and 2nd immortal. After which chrono out a warp prism and rally to the enemy base. Drop a templar archives. Essentially, delay the zerg with prism harrassment with adepts/zealots until you have charge/+1/archons/immortals to defend. This is a difficult task against a good zerg player, who may simply march across the map and kill you.

Hi, I love the build and all but the youtube vid has been removed, saw SoS do the same build vs Elazer in Poland, https://youtu.be/kwQIx17tOGA?t=495

as transitions he went forge and templar archives into a 9min storm push right in before the hydra clump was building. To be fair he had a great start and elazor failed in a roach push to kill his third
