Description

2 Base Muta is a build that gets you fast Muta to harass and defend against drops, while also securing a third base easily and setting you up for a macro game.

If the Terran is being aggressive you can cut down on your Muta count early to start upgrades for +1 Melee, +1 Armor and Baneling Speed.

If the Terran is chill get a higher Muta count to harass and go for a faster fourth base getting ground upgrades later.

This is ruff build order for 2 base muta obviously you change things depending on what you scout early, but this will keep you safe vs Hellion and Banshee which are the most common openers in TvZ right now.

Analysis

  • Since it's a kinda fast lair you can overseer scout when it completes, but 3:30 overlord scout is always needed.
  • Overlord Speed allows your overseers to keep up with your mutalisk good vs Widows mines
  • Baneling speed is really important especially if the Terran is being aggressive because the creep spread from your queens will allows for sick hits
  • For upgrades you might need to cut into your Muta count if the Terran plays aggressive
  • If the Terran is chill you can go up to a higher Muta count to harass with and get upgrades later on
  • With Muta you want to keep the Terran in their base for as long as possible even if they build turrets you can always harass their gas income
  • With this build you wanna always take a fast 4th after defending Terrans initial push
  • When your 2nd pair of queens finish place 1 tumor to connect creep from main to natural and one at the front of natural, then leave them at front of natural these are for defending against hellions and spreading creep.
  • You really need to spread creep towards the Terran and to your other bases in order to defend against attacks.
  • If the opponent goes Banshee use your 3 creep spreading queens and morph and overseer to follow them

@polymorphed I have never used salt encoding, but in this case I haven't given exact timings because most of the stuff is pretty standard for Zerg early in ZvT.

Thanks for the submission! Is it just me, or do most of the build orders produce the error "Error. Not all supply counts and times provided" when attempting to extract SALT encoding? Is there an easy work around? Cheers

Sorry, I updated it in the description but overlord speed is really just to keep your overseers with the Muta to windows mines and Baneling speed you probably want to get before your +1 to help fight Terran Bio. I will upload a replay of it later on

Thanks for sharing this build. Quick question: you mention both overlord and baneling speed, but I don't see them in the build. ROughly when do you get them?

Also, do you have a replay for this build?
