Description

This build is meant for a Bronze/Silver player in order to practice a 2 base Lair opener. It is similar in concept to a +1 Roach Speed timing attack, the main difference being that the timing involves Hydralisks instead of Roaches.

Do note that this is not a viable build at higher levels, it is quite exploitable by simply making units that counter Hydralisks.

Analysis

Note: If you're running out of gas you can just add on slow zerglings as well, anytime you have 50 gas make a Hydralisk, anytime you do not make Zerglings. Alternatively you can macro out of this build by starting +2 when +1 finishes and making drones for your 3rd base anytime you have no gas (still mass Hydralisks anytime you have gas). If the game goes long enough that while doing this you have reached 16/16 drones on the 3rd base simply add the 5th/6th gas and do a 2nd timing attack off of 66 drones/6 gases when +2 Missile finishes.

In Bronze I would suggest doing the build order with no scouting, just practice getting structures on time, droning hard to 2 base saturation and then massing Hydralisks.

In Silver+ I would suggest sending your first overlord to your opponent's 2nd base (do so after making the first drone) to scout if they have expanded or not.

If Protoss has no 2nd base by 2:30 don't start a Lair when the first 2 Queens finish, instead start Zergling speed and a Spine Crawler (still start a 3rd Queen). At 2:45 start a Roach Warren. Drone hard to 1.5 base saturation (16/16 drones in main, 8/16 drones at natural, 1 gas filled) and mass Roach/Speedling to defend a 1 base all-in. If your opponent's macro is bad (they weren't all-ining, just sitting and home and take a late 2nd base) a-move them with your Roach/Speedling and simply go back to the plan, drone up 2 bases, Lair, double Hydra Den, etc.

If Terran has no 2nd base at 2:30 have your first overlord check their main base to see if they are 1 base all-in or if they're just making a Command Center in their main base. If a 2nd Command Center is making in main base do the build as usual. If there is no 2nd Command Center in main base do the same response as if you're against a Protoss doing a 1 base all-in, the only difference is that you can get away with a few more drones (16/16 main base, 12/16 2nd base, 1 gas filled, mass Roach/Speedling).

If Zerg has no 2nd base the moment your overlord arrives or if their 2nd base has barely started, stop droning immediately, 16/16 drones on main, 1 gas filled is enough drones to be ahead. Get a Baneling Nest & a Spine Crawler, next 100 gas after Bane Nest goes into Zergling Speed. Mass Bane/Queen/Speedling.

As this is a Bronze/Silver build I will not cover defense vs stuff like cannon rush/bunker rush, if you're trying this build in Gold+ you will ant to learn to scout for and respond to cannon rush/bunker rush. I wouldn't suggest this build in Gold+, although I assume it could work up to somewhere in Platinum specifically against Protoss, especially if they opened Stargate.

Hmm that's a good point Clockwork_Sphinx. I think I'm just going to leave it as is, hopefully people don't think this is what you're "suppose" to do. The idea with this build is that Hydra's without range are a lot worse and it's really bad to move out without Speed because if they have more stuff you can't retreat, to wait for both upgrades for a 2 base timing attack would just hit really late which would allow the opponent to take advantage of a 3 base economy. I guess one option could be single Hydra Den, and hit with +1 and Hydra Speed as aggressively speed is more important, then get Hydra Range and that would kick in sometime during the fight. I feel the initial attack would be weaker though I guess it may have 17 Hydras instead of 14 which may make up for it.

I like the idea of having a build that trains newer players though I can't think of anything I've seen that uses double zerg tech structures with maybe the exception of double spire if they go super hard into air. I would worry it sets a poor precedent in their minds.
