Description

The current trend in TvP is to get a fast third Command Centre with 1-1-1. This build is one popular variation of this style. It uses Siege Tanks and Banshees to gain an advantage in the early game, and it later transitions to standard bio macro.

Analysis

Powering up on two bases with a 3-1-1 set up and moving out with Stim and two Medivacs is the most common build up in TvP for a long time. Recently, however, players are favoring an earlier third Command Centre over the 2nd and 3rd Barracks.

Some may think that the current trend means Terran is not being aggressive and becomes economical. While this is not wrong, swapping the order of the two Barracks and the Command Centre may not be as different as some think. If you choose to transition early to bio by putting down more Barracks and getting Stim, the difference is not huge. However, if you choose to produce more extensive units, then the difference of having an earlier third Command Centre is more prevalent. There is no fixed build for this earlier third Command Centre style. I chose this build order because it is quite different to the standard 3-1-1 options.

In terms of execution, you should not treat this like an early 1-1-1 push with Marines, Tanks, and Banshees. A good way to execute it is to attack Probes with Banshee and force Stalkers to move to the natural or main. At the same time, you attack with Marines and Siege Tanks at the third. The key is not to "attack", but you want to pull opponent out of position. Then, you deal damage where it is weakest.
