Railgan ZvZ - 3 Roach into Mutalisk Cheese (ZvZ Cheese)
Description
The 3 Roach Opener is primarily known as a ZvT Build. However, it originated in the ZvZ Matchup and works best on Maps with an inbase Expansion such as Acolyte.
The Goal is to Block the Ramp with 3 Roaches, Tech for a quick Lair into Mutalisk, make the opponent panic and finish him off with a quick 2.5 Base Roach Push.
The Roaches will keep your opponent guessing as to what you are actually going for while keeping you save versus most aggression. A full Ling Bane attack however can still kill you. You could go for a 2 Base Nydus, 2 Base Roach, a Ling flood behind the Roaches or anything else.
The Mutalisks will make your opponent panic and invest into Hydras / Queens / Spores while you are just massing Roaches for your final blow. You don't need to do a lot of damage with the Mutas.
The eventual Roach Push should finish your opponent off with a +1/+1 and Roach Speed Timing.
General Build:
- Pool - Hatch - Gas (17/18/17)
- Slowly put Drones into Gas while always having 16 Drones on the Mineral
- @ Pool Queen + Roach Warren + 2 Lings
- @ Natural done go for at least 2 Queens
- @ Roach Warren build 3 Roaches to block the Ramp
- @ 100 Gas (3:00) Build a Lair
- @ 3:30 take 1 More gas
- @ Lair Build a Spire + 2 more Gasses
- @ Spire build Mutas take a 3rd + 2 Evolution Chambers
- @ Evolution Chambers get +1/+1 and Roach Speed for your Roaches
- @ 3rd build 8 Drones
- ---------> Mass Roach

Analysis
Pool First vs Hatch First
Personal preference, you can build Roaches quicker off a Pool First but going Hatch First is also fine if you prefer it that way. Pool First Openers allow you to snipe the first Overlord in some Scenarios and allow for a quick 3rd Queen.
Why Mutas?
They pressure your opponent into investing Ressources into things that are bad versus Roaches
Why the 3rd?
Your Main will mine out and you need some more Mineral income to spend 4 Geysirs worth of Gas on Roaches
When should I attack?
As soon as you have +1/+1 if you feel you can beat him.
Can I take a 4th or just play Macro?
YES the Roach Timing is just an easy way to Win!
Can I play this on every Map?
Mostly just on Acolyte but you can make it work on others :)
